Pelvic Tuck (video tutorial)

Have you heard of the pelvic tuck technique?

It's an easy trick I always teach during my consultations. It encourages a child to sit in an ergonomic position: knees higher than the bum (so called the "M shape" or a froggy position) and curved back ("J shape" when looking from the side). Such position is the most comfortable for the baby and helps to keep the airways open.

It is normal that after some time of carrying the baby's position changes (especially with a wriggly child) and we might find the baby slumping down or sitting in an asymmetrical position. The pelvic tuck is an excellent, quick and easy trick to fix it 👌

When the knees are positioned higher than the bum, the child's bottom naturally settles down on the bottom of the carrier. After creating a pelvic tuck it is important to re-tighten the carrier as there will most probably be some fabric excess at the seat and on the back. That's it!
